LSU seniors, Ashley Nobles and Jill Whitley have been named AAF-BR student scholarship winners. Each winner received a $1,000 scholarship to be applied to their current university, as well as a one-year honorary membership in AAF-BR.

Nobles is a member of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Society, a student member of AIGA and LSU’s Graphic Design Student Organization, and has served as a student volunteer for AAF-BR. She has excelled with a 3.25 GPA and will graduate this month with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Outside of the classroom, she has honed her skills designing the LSU Gumbo Yearbook, interned for Camco Consulting, and most recently completed a design assistant position at Covalent Logic.

“Her graphic design abilities were invaluable, her professionalism, willingness to help, and managerial abilities excelled my business in multiple areas,” said her nominator. “A truly hard-worker, she has sought several outlets to better her abilities to impact the graphic design industry in Baton Rouge.”

Whitley has advertising in her blood. Literally. Her father, Ty Whitley, is one of AAF-BR’s longtime professional members. She is a member of Alpha Lamba Delta Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, and the LSU Honors College. She served as treasurer of LSU student chapter of AAF this past year, and has also served as student volunteer for the ADDYs. She graduates this month a member of the Dean’s List with a 3.56 GPA with an advertising degree from the Manship School of Mass Communication. She plans to attend the University of Texas in Austin, pursuing a Master’s degree in Advertising.

Whitley won a Gold ADDY and the Student Best of Show award for her magazine campaign ad for POST-IT notes at the local ADDY awards. She also brought home a Silver ADDY at the District 7 ADDY awards.

Whitley has worked as a Media Buying intern at Diane Allen & Associates, and on campus as an advertising representative for the Daily Reveille.

“In advertising, there is really only a small percentage of people who ‘get it,'” says her nominator. “she definitely embraces every aspect of advertising, sales campaign concepts and customer service.”
