April Luncheon with Bradley Furnish – The Dam Keeper: The Passion Project that Launched a Studio

About Dam Keeper:

The Dam Keeper is side project created by Pixar Art Directors. It tells the story of Pig, an introverted youth who lives in a windmill and keeps a dark fog from engulfing his town. The film was rejected by the first few festivals that it was submitted to. Then in February 2014, it was accepted at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival, where it had its world premiere. The US premiere followed in March, at the 17th New York International Children’s Film Festival.

The film won the Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival, the Kids Audience Award at the New York International Children’s Film Festival, the Young People’s Jury Award at TIFF Kids,[26] and the inaugural Best Animated Short Award at the Spark Animation Conference, Film Festival and Job Fair.[27] It received an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short Film at the 87th Academy Awards.

It’s recently been announced that the short is being adapted into a feature length film with Fox, an animated TV series on Hulu in Japan, graphic novels.

About Bradley Furnish:
Bradley Furnish is an Editor working in the San Francisco Bay Area. His film credits include Pixar Animation Studio’s Toy Story 3, Brave, and the Toy Story That Time Forgot television special. In addition to his work at the studio, Bradley continues to work on independent projects ranging in content and style. He is particularly proud to be a part of Pixar’s It Gets Better PSA, the Academy Award-nominated short film The Dam Keeper and, most recently, the short film Moom. Bradley graduated from Louisiana State University’s Graphic Design program.
